MOVIE ADAPTATIONS
The Movie Rights to Brandon Sanderson Cosmere has been sold to Apple TV!
Apple TV has closed an ”unprecedented deal” to the movie rights to Brandon Sandersons popular interconnected universe of books, The Cosmere. Sanderson will have more control over the TV-series than wha’ts usual, which sounds great to me. He will write, produce and consult on the adaptions but will also have final approvals.
The first series being adapted is the Mistborn Series and after that it will be The Stormlight Archive. Stormlight Archive has already producers, Blue Marble, run by former WME agent Theresa Kang, is attached to executive produce it.
Fourth Wing TV-Series Update By Producer Michael B. Jordan
We also got an update about the Fourth Wing TV-series adaption. Michal B. Jordan and his company Outlier is producing it for Prime Video, with Meredith Averill as showrunner.
Michael B. Jordan recently said ”We are making sure that this is going to be a exciting show that delivers on all of the things the fans want and some of the things that they won’t be expecting either,” he told Deadline. “But trust me, I know how beloved this franchise IP is and we’re diligently…We’re in the lab; we’re cooking up. We got it. It’s coming. It’s early stages, but I feel how much people care about this one. It’s not lost on us.”
So that sounds very promising as well.
OTHER NEWS FROM THE BOOK WORLD
George R.R. Martin about writing the last books of A Song of Ice And Fire
In a long interview with The Hollywood reporter, George R.R Martin talked about the HBO-series that has been released from the Game of Thrones-universe and his worries about completing the last books from the A Song of Ice and Fire-series.
He sais that that he has about 1100 pages of manuscript finished, but still don’t know how he could write the same amount for A storm of Swords in one year, when this has taken him over 14 years, and it’s not done yet. He is at the moment working on his old DOS-computer without internet, but there are still a lot of distractions from the tv-shows but also a lot of rewriting and doubt.
When the reporter asks if he would just give up on the book, George says that he would hate that. ”It would feel like a total failure to me. I want to finish”. And that there is no plan to hand over the series to someone else in case something would happen to him. George also describes how he still loves the world of Ice and Fire but feels a bit locked in by the success of it. He finishes the interview with telling the reporter that he is planning on killing a lot more of his characters than the TV-show did, and that he doesn’t see a happy ending for a lot of them, but that remains to be seen.
