Heavenly Bodies & Fallen Stars by Imani Erriu – Spoiler-Free Review
The UnderHYPED Romantasy
SERIES You Need to Read

№ 1 & 2 in the Series Heavenly Bodies
Imani Errius’ Heavenly Bodies series, and it’s honestly one of the most underhyped romantasy series out there. Let me tell you all about it in this spoiler-free review—and why you should pick it up.
Heavenly bodies – A Celestial World of Prophecies and Star-Crossed Love
The story is set in a fantasy world where the Stars rule as gods, and humans live at their mercy. Elara, our main character, has been prophesied to fall in love with a Star, a love that will kill them both.
But when Elara’s family is murdered and she is kidnapped to the kingdom of her enemies, Helios, everything takes a different turn. She is forced to train and become a weapon for them, and even though she hates the handsome prince who is training her, other feelings begin to grow. The true question is, can love overcome a prophecy?
Heavenly Bodies (Book 1) – what makes it worth your time
The first book in this series is a very atmospheric romantasy, where the love story is the main focus, with the celestial world and the fantasy as its backdrop. The reason why I liked it so much is because it makes you feel so much. Elara goes through grief, defiance, and character development, and the love story is all about enemies to lovers, banter, yearning, and a really strong fated love.
Another thing that makes this series so special is the celestial theme throughout. The whole world has different kingdoms, with different Stars as gods and also different kinds of magic. Every kingdom is described beautifully and I really enjoyed staying in each one. And, not to spoil anything, but there’s so much more to come from that later in the book.
When I was reading the book, I had such a good time. A first book in a series where the characters go from enemies to lovers, yearn in secret and fall for each other is just a favorite trope of mine -if it’s done well, which Heavenly Bodies certainly does.
Also, the other relationships, the threats, the world and magic, and the high pace make it a really great romantasy read. I laughed, I cried, and I fell in love while I was reading it.
I also really enjoyed the ending, because I think it gave the book a little more purpose. The reveals and insights you get really make you want to read further.
Fallen Stars (Book 2) – how the tone shifts and the story deepens
If Heavenly Bodies is a love story with fantasy, Fallen Stars leans more towards a fantasy story with love in it.
Fallen Stars was also a very good read in my opinion, but it’s quite different in tone and in the overall focus of the book. The story gets darker; we’re introduced to more characters, more world-building, and mystical creatures. Elara and the other characters are put through even more challenges, and while I was reading it, I wasn’t really sure what I thought about where it was going. The book also has more of a marine setting, since they sail through the world, and it was atmospheric but quite different from the settings of light, sun, and fire in Helios in the first book.
But I really liked that you got to know and experience more of the world, a lot more backstory, and even more magic. I felt like we could have had more of that in the first book, so it was a nice complement.
And even if I had a few doubts as I was reading it, the second half of the book really delivered. I think it came together so well, and I’m so excited to see more of everything in book 3, Holy Monsters. It honestly reminded me a little of the second and third books of ACOTAR, where the second book is the big love story and the third book is more of a fantasy novel.
Who is this romantasy series for?
Like is said earlier, I think the first book is a perfect romantasy. It has everything I want from a book (expect a little more world building and even higher stakes, which we get in Fallen stars). So if you read for feelings, yearning, found family, and magical worlds, this book really delivers.
Since the second book is a little different, I don’t think the second book is for everyone, especially if you are a romance-first kind of reader. But if you, like me, have come to love these characters and this world, and want to continue to know more about their journey, I really think you should read it no matter how used you are to fantasy or not. And the love is absolutely still present.

DEEPER THOUGHS OF FLLEN STRS
Mermaids, darker magic & new relationships
Like I said, Fallen stars has more of a marine setting, since they are travelling the world via a ship. We’re also introduced to a certain sea captain who is a main part of the story. This was one of the things I was a bit unsure of when I read the book at first. I liked that setting less compared to Helios, but when the second half of the book came around, it all fitted perfectly.
I also love how Elara, Enzo and all the other characters get to know more about their magic and how it’s connected to the faith of the world. It makes it even more outstanding and interesting.
After finishing the book, I really like how new characters were involved and how the world feels bigger, more dangerous and interesting.
MY EXPECTTIONS FOR BK 3: HOLY MONSTERS
Holy Monsters: Shaping Up to Be an Epic Finale
I can’t wait for November and to read the third book in the series, Holy Monsters. Considering how Fallen Stars ended, my prediction is that there will be a heavenly war breaking out. I think we’ll get to see even more advanced celestial magic, Stars and mythological creatures fighting on each side, and probably some heartbreaking choices and sacrifices from our favorite characters. And some intense love in the middle of the chaos as well.
